a new day, a new year.

2009.  Craaazy.  I remember when it was 1999 and the year 2000 was soon upon us.  Everyone thought that the end of the world was coming and that all computers would crash and explode because they would be so confused and wouldn't know how to comprehend the number change.  Really?  I mean, really.  How is it any different from changing from 19 to 20?  Or 29 to 30?  Or ANYTHING?  If someone is smart enough to invent a computer/internet/whatever I'm pretty sure they figured out how to make sure the numbers would work in its inner workings.  Anyway.  This is all beside the point.

These are my goals/things I want to do in the year 2009.

-Geocache (if you don't know what it is, it sounds pretty tight and you should look into it.  It's essentially treasure hunting.  People have hidden crap all over the world and then posted its coordinates on the internets so other people can get the coordinates, plug it into a GPS and then go find it!)

-Train for and compete in a triathlon

-Eat a more balanced diet

-Lose at least 20-30 pounds

-Read the entire standard works (BOM, Old/New Testament, D&C, the Pearl of Great Price)

-Get straight A's (we'll see about this one...)

-Study in the library more

-Facebook less

-Finish the two quilts I have started

-KIT

-Hike

-Serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  1. When are you planning on going on a mission!?!? That sounds super awesome. All of these goals look great and I think you'll be able to do all of them! Good luck!

  2. Thanks Becca. You're so encouraging. I'm actually in the middle of filling out my papers. They're a little more than halfway done and I'm hoping to leave in May.

  3. everyone was worried becuase the computers were going to go to 00 in their internal year tracker--whatever you would call it. they were afrid computers would think that time had started over and reset themselves. thats why it's different than going from 29 to 30 on any multiple of ten... becuase it would be 00.

  4. well look at you, doing your research. I'm still convinced that it was a bigger deal than necessary.
